A collapsed rock bar on Waratah Rivulet – the red stain on the rock slab indicates the extent of former pristine flows prior to longwall coal mining under this stream.
This empty channel is all that’s left of a three metre deep pool on Waratah Rivulet following recent longwall mining operations.

Walkers in the dry creek bed. The intense compressive forces associated with the recent longwall coal mining operations have fractured the rocky stream bed for two kilometres along the Waratah Rivulet. More mining is planned in the area.
 
Rocks from a cliff fall are scattered across the bed of a once deep pool in Native Dog Creek. Longwall mining has drained this pool and many others in our water supply catchments.
